SUMMARY:ECCB Salon Series
DESCRIPTION:East Coast Contemporary Ballet returns to MoCA with an excerpt from their upcoming Spring Season that will be followed by an artist talk-back with the audience. \nECCB’s dynamic mixed repertory season includes a premiere that is currently being created in collaboration with Italian artist Luca Serasini and is inspired by his sculpture “Waiting for Angels.” This contemporary ballet will delve into the modern-day anticipation for help and guidance in the face of personal and societal anxieties. The work will inspire audiences to ask themselves\, In what ways do we have agency over our future and how impactful is the sentiment of hope in our darkest moments? \nDon’t miss this intimate evening of captivating contemporary dance and a rare opportunity to explore a work in progress and speak directly with the choreographers and dancers.

Eboni Booth’s 2024 Pulitzer Prize-winning breakout play is an uplifting\, gentle and powerful exploration of change\, friendship\, and quiet courage. Meet Kenneth\, a creature of habit whose world is upended when his lifelong job ends – and he’s nudged into the unknown by his best friend Bert and a few unexpected encounters over mai tais at the local tiki bar. This luminous new American play draws us into a deeply human journey\, as Kenneth takes small steps into a bigger world – one where every connection holds the power to transform a life.

SUMMARY:For the Love of the Game: Baseball panel at Fairfield Public Library
DESCRIPTION:Town Librarian Scott Jarzombek (a die-hard Mets fan\, himself) moderates a discussion of everything baseball with two dedicated fans\, former Little League coach Matt McGuire and MLB.com reporter Michael Clair. \nMatt\, whose four sons kept him involved in Fairfield Little League for 15 years as a coach\, commissioner\, board member and president\, is the author of Fairfield American: a Legacy of Little League Dreams (2025). A friend called the book “a love letter to Little League baseball\,” and Matt couldn’t agree more\, citing his experiences with his boys in the ballpark as some of the greatest moments in his life. \nIn addition to reporting on international baseball and the World Baseball Classic for MLB.com\, Michael Clair has written We Sacrifice Everything to Baseball: How the Czech Republic’s Amateur Underdogs Became World Baseball Classic Heroes (2026). The book tells the story of how the Czech Republic’s team of amateur players–firefighters\, teachers\, and even field caretakers by day–upset both Spain and then China to win the 2023 World Baseball Classic through teamwork\, sacrifice\, and self-belief. \nCome share an evening of discussion about America’s most beloved pastime\, focusing on the pure love of the game. \nCopies of both books will be available for purchase. Advance registration is appreciated.

SUMMARY:MoCACT Presents: Brubeck Brothers Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Brothers Chris and Dan Brubeck—who first recorded together in 1966—lead this dynamic ensemble through straight-ahead jazz inflected with funk\, blues\, and global rhythms. Their chart-topping album LifeTimes showcases the Quartet’s masterful improvisations and adventurous exploration of odd time signatures\, drawing on a legacy that includes performances at major festivals worldwide and collaborations with orchestras from Philadelphia to Singapore. With guitarist Mike DeMicco and pianist Chuck Lamb rounding out the group\, the BBQ honors the spontaneous spirit of jazz while forging its own distinctive path. \nChoose from two ticket options that offer full access to our exhibition Art\, Jazz + the Blues\, as the galleries transform into a speakeasy-inspired jazz lounge—an immersive extension of the exhibition\, generously sponsored by Conlon Amendola\, Attorneys at Law. \nVIP EXPERIENCE – $150 \n• Special-edition t-shirt designed by Westport artist Miggs Burroughs\n• Preferred seating\n• Personal bar service with wine\, beer\, and sparkling water\n• Signature cocktails\n• Curated light bites by A·S Westport\nGENERAL ADMISSION – $50 \n• Standard seating\n• Wine\, beer\, and sparkling water\n• Signature cocktails\n• Curated light bites by A·S Westport\nAbout the Brubeck Brothers Quartet: \nChris and Dan Brubeck have been making music together practically all their lives. Drummer Dan and bassist\, trombonist\, and composer Chris cut their first record together in 1966—nearly a half century ago. They’ve subsequently played a variety of styles in a number of different groups\, as well as with their father\, jazz giant Dave Brubeck\, and with their own Brubeck Brothers Quartet. With Dan and Chris as the foundation\, guitarist Mike DeMicco and pianist Chuck Lamb\, complete this dynamic quartet. They perform at concert series\, colleges\, and jazz festivals across North America and Europe\, including the Newport\, Detroit\, Montreal\, Playboy/Hollywood Bowl\, and Monterey Jazz Festivals. The Quartet’s last cd\, LifeTimes\,< was a hit on the JazzWeek radio chart where it made the Top Ten list as one of the most played jazz recordings of the year. \n“The playing that takes place on LifeTimes – the wondrous combination of swing\, melodic majesty\, masterful arrangements and a truckload of truly inspirational solos – just adds a vibrancy and color to songs I thought I knew and loved on a deep level. It turns out that there was still plenty of depth I could have discovered. I just needed someone to point the way and that is exactly what these four gentlemen have done through LifeTimes.” – Seattle Times \nThese versatile musicians also collaborate with orchestras all across the U.S. as well as internationally\, including performing with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra and the Russian National Orchestra. With Chris Brubeck’s compositions as a vehicle\, the BBQ has joined with chamber groups to collaborate with musicians from the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra\, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Russian National Symphony Orchestra. \nAlthough the Quartet’s style is rooted in “straight-ahead” jazz\, their concerts reveal an inherent ability to explore and play odd time signatures while naturally integrating the influences of funk\, blues and world music. The group’s creativity\, technique and improvisation can be heard in their uncompromising music\, which reflects their dedication to melody\, rhythm\, culture and the spontaneous spirit of jazz.
