SUMMARY:Divi Roxx Kids: Children’s Series - FREE SHOW
DESCRIPTION:Known for her extraordinary bass skills and dynamic artistry\, Divinity Roxx is a Grammy-nominated powerhouse who built her career touring with 5-time Grammy-winning bass virtuoso Victor Wooten and sharing the stage with none other than the Queen B herself\, Beyoncé. \n“I believe that there is power in play\,” Roxx tells Bass Empire Magazine. That love of play has led to two Grammy-nominated albums\, Ready Set Go (2021) and World Wide Playdate (2024)\, as well as compositions that have been adapted into children’s books and adapted for television and theater. From writing a new work for the Peter Rabbit franchise to co-writing\, producing\, and performing the theme song for the Emmy-nominated PBS Kids’ show\, Lyla in the Loop\, Divinity continues to showcase her creative synergy across disciplines. \nIn an interview with NPR\, Roxx explains she set out to write “a jam that’s appropriate for a five year old\, that makes them feel good about being alive\, and makes them think about life in a different way.” Through every groove and lyric\, she channels that mission into music that uplifts\, empowers\, and invites audiences of all ages to embrace the joy of discovery.

SUMMARY:Gallery Talk with Rick Shaefer
DESCRIPTION:In conjunction with Looking for History\, join exhibiting artist Rick Shaefer for a guided tour of Colossi on Thursday\, July 9\, at 6pm. \nDuring this one-hour walkthrough\, Shaefer will lead Museum visitors through the exhibition\, sharing insights into the inspiration\, historical references\, and creative methods that inform the works on view. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a discussion about the artist’s concepts\, materials\, and techniques. \nShaefer’s exhibition at MoCACT includes selections from three ongoing bodies of work: the Colossi\, Refugee Trilogy\, and Liberty Dismantled series. These works collectively examine the transhistorical themes of migration\, displacement\, national identity\, and the tension between ideals of freedom and the realities of division. \nAlso on view are two short videos that offer a close read of two major drawings from the Colossi series\, The New Colossus and Siege. The videos\, created specifically for this exhibition\, offer visitors a deeper understanding of the historical precedents\, symbolism\, and formal techniques that shape the artist’s practice. Together\, these works invite reflection on the structures — both physical and metaphorical — that impact our world and our relationships with one another.

SUMMARY:Elena Moon Park: Children’s Series - FREE SHOW
DESCRIPTION:ELENA MOON PARK CELEBRATES THE MAGIC OF EVERYDAY LIFE ON NOTHING IS ORDINARY – A GLOBALLY INSPIRED ALL AGES ALBUM OUT MAY 29\, 2026 \nMusician and cultural producer Elena Moon Park returns with Nothing Is Ordinary\, a luminous new collection of songs that invites listeners of all ages to rediscover the wonder woven into everyday life. \nBuilt around the idea that the world surrounding us is both ordinary and extraordinary at once\, the album encourages a deeper kind of listening\, one that embraces birdsong in the morning\, the quiet glow of the moon in daylight\, and the countless small stories unfolding around us at any given moment. \n“When I sit with this idea\, I find myself noticing more of both the grand and the mundane\,” says Park. “I’m reminded that so much of my joy comes from listening closely\, from paying attention to the world and the people around me. This collection of songs is dedicated to the idea that everything around us is magical\, while also being oh-so common. And I realize that my greatest joy is in hearing and noticing everyone and everything\, and listening for all the stories\, large and small. Everyone has a story to share. Find yours and sing it loud.” \nNothing Is Ordinary is Park’s third all ages album\, and continues her singular approach to family music\, one rooted in respect\, curiosity\, and artistic depth. The collection brings together reimagined folk and children’s songs from East and Southeast Asia alongside original compositions inspired in part by the artwork of longtime collaborator Kristiana Pärn.

SUMMARY:The CORA Foundation Community Conversation with Ellen Harvey + Dan Woog
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening inspired by Looking for History\, MoCACT’s summer exhibition featuring Ellen Harvey’s The Disappointed Tourist. This special program brings the exhibition’s themes of memory\, loss\, and place into a local context\, inviting audiences to reflect on the spaces that have shaped—and disappeared from—our shared landscape. \nModerated by journalist and 06880 founder Dan Woog\, the conversation features an interview with artist Harvey alongside preservation advocate Ed Gerber (Historic New England). Together\, they will explore the cultural and emotional significance of lost places\, from global landmarks to beloved Westport institutions. \nFor the MoCACT Looking for History exhibition\, Harvey has created four new paintings based on local submissions: The Remarkable Book Shop\, Cedar Brook Cafe\, Bloodroot\, and Allen’s Clam House\, which will serve as a starting point for a broader community dialogue. \nThe evening will also include brief presentations from selected community participants sharing their own “lost places\,” adding personal perspective and storytelling to the discussion. As our Disappointed Tourist Guide\, Woog will present the award selections. Categories include “Place You Thought Would Last Forever\,” “What a Cool Hangout!” “Just One More Bite\,” followed by an audience vote to crown one favorite missed location.
