DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, November 15 |10:30 am to 5 pm\nFree; Pre-registration encouraged \nJoin us for a free day of art and community at The Aldrich as we celebrate the one-year anniversary of our newly renovated campus and Sculpture Garden! \nExplore outdoor works featured in A Garden of Promise and Dissent or join guided tours of our current exhibitions: Uman: After all the things…\, Aldrich Projects | Estefania Puerta: Laughing Death Drive\, Zak Prekop: Durations\, and Nickola Pottinger: fos born. \nFamilies can start the day with a Story Time inspired by the work of Uman\, then enjoy hands-on art-making in The Studio\, meet animals from Woodcock Nature Center\, exchange native plant seeds with Caudatowa Garden Club\, take part in a nature-inspired scavenger hunt\, and much more! \nLight refreshments will be available for purchase. Food and drink vendors will be onsite throughout the day including Ursa Coffee Roasters\, a small-batch Connecticut-based roastery serving up locally crafted blends throughout the event. \nSchedule of Activities \n10:30 to 11:30 am — Community Day Story Time with Ridgefield Library\nEnjoy an art-inspired Story Time perfect for families with young children\, with the Ridgefield Library. Registration is required. \n12 noon to 4 pm — Scavenger Hunt\nPick up a scavenger hunt card anytime between 12 noon and 4 pm—once complete\, return it to receive a seed packet prize! \n12 noon to 4 pm — Woodcock Nature Center: Meet the Animals!\nFind Woodcock Nature Center and their turtle friends in the Sculpture Garden! Feel the luscious textures of a moss petting zoo\, investigate animal artifacts like furs and skulls\, and meet beloved creatures such as Elma the Eastern Box Turtle. Nature is full of inspiration for artists of all ages! \n12:30 to 4 pm — Drop-in Studio Workshop\nCreate your own vibrant artwork inspired by the current exhibitions and the Eastern Box Turtle in hands-on activities led by Aldrich Educators. \n1 pm — Indoor Exhibitions Tour\nJoin an Aldrich Educator for a highlights tour of our fall exhibitions: Uman: After all the things…\, Aldrich Projects | Estefania Puerta: Laughing Death Drive\, Zak Prekop: Durations\, and Nickola Pottinger: fos born. \n1:30 to 3:30 pm — Seed Exchange Table with Caudatowa Garden Club\nBring seeds to swap or pick up something new for your garden! \n2 to 3 pm — Sculpture Garden Tour with Caudatowa Garden Club\nJoin members of the Caudatowa Garden Club\, the Ridgefield Conservation Commission\, and The Aldrich’s team for a collaborative tour exploring the native plantings and outdoor artworks featured in A Garden of Promise and Dissent and 2025 Aldrich Box. \n3 pm — Indoor Exhibitions Tour\nJoin an Aldrich Educator for a highlights tour of our fall exhibitions: Uman: After all the things…\, Aldrich Projects | Estefania Puerta: Laughing Death Drive\, Zak Prekop: Durations\, and Nickola Pottinger: fos born. \nAbout Our Partners \nWoodcock Nature Center creatively re-connects the community with nature through educational programming\, school field trips\, summer camps\, enrichment programs\, guided hikes\, and animal encounters. The preserve includes a natural playground\, owl and hawk aviaries\, historic stone walls\, hardwood forests\, a pond\, wetlands\, vernal pools\, and nearly four miles of hiking trails which are publicly accessible year-round. \nCaudatowa Garden Club is a group of like-minded gardeners who enjoy sharing information about flower and vegetable gardening\, pollinator gardens\, and native plants. They care about the environment and making Ridgefield a beautiful place to live. \nRidgefield Conservation Committee duties include looking after the town’s open space\, advising other Ridgefield committees on environmental impacts\, and seeking additional open space for the town.

SUMMARY:Family Day: Making Meaning with Quilts
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun afternoon of art\, inspired by our exhibition Stitching Time!\n\n\nJoin us on Saturday\, November 15\, 2025 in the Bellarmine Hall\, Museum Classroom for a Family Day inspired by the artwork on view in our exhibition Stitching Time: The Social Justice Collaboration Quilts Project and Give Me Life: CPA Prison Arts Project. Learn more about the exhibition here! The first session will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. and the second at 2:30 p.m. \nDuring this Family Day event\, kids ages 4-10 will explore different ways of using fabric: creating a self-portrait and creating a four-aquare mini-quilt with a personal narrative! \nPlease note: participants can only sign up for one session. If you cannot attend Family Day\, we request that you cancel your reservation either through Eventbrite or by emailing museum@fairfield.edu.
