SUMMARY:Be Unapologetically Impatient w/ Dr. Christina Cipriano
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we welcome Dr. Christina Cipriano to Westport on Tuesday\, October 20th at 7pm. \nIn her book\,” Be Unapologetically Impatient: The Mindset Required to Change the Way We Do Things”\, award-winning psychologist Dr. Christina Cipriano teaches everyone—parents and educators\, providers and patients\, businesspeople and clients—how to use science to address “the way we do things” right now. \nHere’s just a small sample of what some people are saying: \n“In Be Unapologetically Impatient\, Dr. Cipriano offers strategy after strategy for creating light—ways to call in rather than call out\, ways to ask questions rather than shout accusations\, ways to make a difference rather than just make a point. This is a wonderful book for parents\, health care professionals\, educators\, policy makers and anyone who wants to make the world more just and more joyful too. — Dr. Tim Shriver\, Chairman\, Special Olympics \n“Be Unapologetically Impatient should be a must read for every parent\, for every patient\, for every provider\, for every person\, and for every organization they operate in. This insightful and practical book enables readers to learn how to use their voice and their social and emotional competence to support their\, and all\, children.— Dr. David Osher\, Vice President\, American Institutes for Research \n“By teaching us how to lead with curiosity\, humanity\, and gratitude\, and embracing the conviction that a brighter future that works for everyone is indeed possible\, Dr. Cipriano reminds us that being unapologetically impatient is the only way we will realize it. —Melissa Stevens\, Executive Vice President\, Milken Institute

SUMMARY:Intuitive Abstract Expressionism: an immersive art experience with Melissa Benedek
DESCRIPTION:Step beyond the canvas and into an immersive\, intuitive approach to Abstract Expressionism led by artist Melissa Benedek. Through color\, movement\, texture\, music\, and spontaneous mark-making\, you’ll learn to quiet the inner critic\, trust your instincts\, and allow the painting to unfold organically. \nThis is less about creating a “perfect” painting and more about letting go\, exploring\, and discovering what emerges when intuition takes the lead. \nNo experience necessary\, just curiosity\, an open mind\, and a willingness to create.

SUMMARY:Fear of Heights - A Very Funny Phobia
DESCRIPTION:Westport Country Playhouse’s Barnstormer Series will present “Fear of Heights – A Very Funny Phobia\,” a biographical story about an Irish-American whose fear of heights led him to break with family tradition and forge a career far removed from the dangerous steelwork of his father and grandfather. Written and performed by award-winning stand-up comedian\, actor\, writer\, producer\, and television host Kevin Flynn\, the show will take place Monday\, October 26\, at 7 p.m. in the Lucille Lortel White Barn Center\, adjacent to the Playhouse. Tickets are $20; general admission\, seating is limited/unreserved Running time is approximately 70 minutes. Recommended ages: PG-13. \nKevin Flynn’s grandfather\, Paddy Flynn\, was immortalized in Charles C. Ebbets’ iconic 1932 photograph\, “Lunch Atop a Skyscraper\,” which captures 11 ironworkers taking a lunch break on a steel beam high above the Manhattan skyline. Seated at the far right\, Paddy appears perched on a lonely beam seemingly floating in the sky\, with the city’s towering skyscrapers stretching out below.\nThis breathtaking image sets the stage for “Fear of Heights\,” Kevin’s biographical story of growing up in an Irish-American family whose generations of men earned their living as New York City steelworkers—and of the very different path he ultimately established for himself\, shaped by his fear of heights. \nBarnstormer: Fear of Heights
