SUMMARY:UU Players present Birthday Club at UU Westport
DESCRIPTION:Birthday Club\, a play by American playwright Phil Olson\, will be presented Friday and Saturday March 27 and 28 at 7 PM; Sunday March 29 at 2 PM\, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Westport\, 10 Lyons Plain Road\, Westport. Plenty of free parking and the building is handicap accessible.  \nBirthday Club centers on five longtime friends who reunite to celebrate a milestone birthday. The women confront changes in marriage\, career\, health\, and identity while examining what has sustained their friendships over decades. Humor carries the evening\, but beneath the laughter lies a current of recognition and tenderness. The story gives space to regret\, loyalty\, and second chances\, revealing the warmth and resilience that shape enduring friendships. A recent review noted\, “Birthday Club is more than a play\, it’s a party\, and everyone is invited to join the fun.” \nThe production is presented by UU Players\, a theater troupe founded in 2008 by Director Emeritus Jim Luongo. The group’s mission is to perform great plays for fun and community enjoyment. This spring’s production is directed by Julyen Norman\, and features Angi Haen\, Arnela Ten Meer\, Joanne Glasser Orestein\, Jerusha Vogel and Sarah Bell.  \nAll proceeds go to support UU Westport and its mission: to inspire and support individual spiritual growth; to connect through worship\, music\, learning and caring ministries; and to act in the service of peace and justice.  We are a judgment-free spiritual community that explores together what it means to be human\, and how to care for one another with love\, grace and justice. Services and children’s programs at 10 AM each Sunday.

Drummer Dan and bassist\, trombonist\, and composer Chris cut their first record together in 1966—nearly a half century ago. They’ve subsequently played a variety of styles in a number of different groups\, as well as with their father\, jazz giant Dave Brubeck\, and with their own Brubeck Brothers Quartet. With Dan and Chris as the foundation\, guitarist Mike DeMicco and pianist Chuck Lamb\, complete this dynamic quartet. SUMMARY:For the Love of the Game: Baseball panel at Fairfield Public Library
DESCRIPTION:Town Librarian Scott Jarzombek (a die-hard Mets fan\, himself) moderates a discussion of everything baseball with two dedicated fans\, former Little League coach Matt McGuire and MLB.com reporter Michael Clair. \nMatt\, whose four sons kept him involved in Fairfield Little League for 15 years as a coach\, commissioner\, board member and president\, is the author of Fairfield American: a Legacy of Little League Dreams (2025).  A friend called the book “a love letter to Little League baseball\,” and Matt couldn’t agree more\, citing his experiences with his boys in the ballpark as some of the greatest moments in his life. \nIn addition to reporting on international baseball and the World Baseball Classic for MLB.com\, Michael Clair has written We Sacrifice Everything to Baseball:  How the Czech Republic’s Amateur Underdogs Became World Baseball Classic Heroes (2026).
