
WESTPORT — “Songs & Stories of Laurel Canyon,” performed by the Bar Car Band, will be showcased May 13 at Voices Café at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Westport.

Net proceeds from the event will benefit the Green Village Initiative, which supports food programs in Bridgeport.
Music for the event is drawn from the Laurel Canyon sound of the late 1960s and early ’70s when Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles was a hub for musicians and artists. These include: Carole King, Carly Simon, Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Neil Young and Tom Waits, as well as Buffalo Springfield, Crosby, Stills & Nash, the Eagles, the Doors and the Byrds
The state-based Bar Car Band is led by Nina Hammerling on vocals and Russell Smith on guitar and vocals, accompanied by Joe Izzo on drums, Scott Spray on bass, Tim DeHuff on guitar, Tim Stone on keyboards, David Allen Rivera on percussion, vocals by Amy Crenshaw and story narrator Hadley Boyd.
